The Jeanette Cook records include photographs of construction, the first train in Floydada, the Matador Ranch and Roaring Springs, a typed history of the railroad by its president, Charles H. Sommer, and miscellaneous data relating to Hardman County. The remaining include correspondence, legal and financial materials, schedules, blueprints and minutes of company meetings, all pertaining to the construction and operation of the Quanah , Acme, and Pacific line. Included are records of ranches, towns and agribusinesses who had connections and dealings with the road.

Established in 1879 by Alfred Markham Britton, Henry Harrison Campbell, and associates, the ranch covered one and a half million acres in Motley, Cottle, Floyd and Dickens counties of Texas.
